Follow Great Footsteps Choice and Responsibility

“I am a lighthouse rather than a life boat. I do not rescue I help others instead to find their own way to shore, guiding them by example” Unknown

WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THIS QUOTE?

I think a lot of us like  to help people. There is nothing wrong with giving people  a bit of guidance and advice . The problem with always giving the same person help and advice -all the time – is the danger of that person relying on you for all their problems. It puts you in a martyr /saving role and the other person in a victim /helpless role.

We need to allow people to figure out their own path. If we take them with us on our journey ,they will never make a life that is truly their own. They will never become fully responsible and independent for themselves and their decisions.

By all means shine a light showing them them there is hope and a path/s they can take. Not all is lost. People need to figure out how to fight their own battles. It sounds cruel and in a way it is.

Look at nature as an example.

If baby animals were not left to learn how to survive and their family always took care of them and protected them ,then what are the chances of them one day being found alone and not knowing how to defend themselves? They will probably end up being killed.

Humans are resourceful when their only choice is to survive

I’ve said this before. And I am saying it again 😀

  1. Advanced Research Technology

This is incredibly true. People need to make their own choices from the light given them. If their choice is always pointed out, the outcome is nothing more than artificial knee-jerk reaction. They remain lost.

  4. I agree. A bit of guidance and advice, and let them do the rest. They have to fight their own battles to grow, accept and to learn. 🙂
