Thoughts about Happiness

I was once told a really interesting short  folk-tale. It is perfect for today’s inspiration  #FollowGreatFootsteps – although there is a kind of irony in this too.

Why this folk-tale ? Read on.

There is a folk tale about a snake. He was once asked if it could choose would it prefer to have legs.

The snake  tried to ponder this – completely mystified by the question.

Finally it spoke:

“No” it said,

“I am what I am”

So yes. We are what we are. A situation is what it it is. lndeed, life is what it is.

THE MESSAGE – We don’t need to wish for something we don’t have

I posted  a personal post yesterday, expecting not much of a response and I have been blown away from all the comments from all of you. It further confirms how important and rewarding it is to be who you are . No masks are needed.

I hope you can see the irony in this  this folk -story in connection with  #FollowGreatFootsteps in it’s full context 😀

  1. “I am what I am” … I love that. So simple, so true. I’m far from perfect & I wouldn’t have it any other way. I think part of loving someone (whether they be friend, family or other) is to accept them flaws & all 🙂

  2. Drem thank you so much for sharing a part of yourself -it means a lot.

  3. I guess, well I have a cat. And he was a rescue. A baby. He was so afraid of everything. Every sound. Every person. I got him from outside. His mom died so after we got him his shots and neutered I didnt want to release him (I do a lot of animal rescuing). Everyone said he would never be able to be domestic. That he would never love. He would never acclimate. And today he sleeps in my bed and asks for kisses throughout the day. And when I ask for a kiss he comes over and gives me one. And each day at around 1pm we have our cuddle time in my room and he lays on my tummy and purrs like a happy kitty. He overcame so much. He now has trust. He can now show affection.

I am a survivor of domestic and sexual abuse. I hope I can learn to overcome like he has. He is my inspiration.

    • What a beautiful story and experience. I wish more people could like you see that some animals -our fellow earthlings -have a lot more insight into humanity than a large percentage of humans. I have a cat who is my child. She is my first born and my human daughter is my second born 😀 Tatiana loves playtime in the morning when I make the bed. She goes to sleep the same time as my daughter and she wakes up at the same time as me. I think he is a wonderful inspiration. Still waters run deep. I HOPE you will learn to over come your experiences too. In fact you have already conquered a lot. You have survived . I think that is half the battle won xxx thanks for the follow. Keep writing your poems. You have a true gift. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
